OTAGO HOUNDS.
The Otago Hounds held a meet at Balclutha on the 9th and there was a good turn-out, which if the weather had been better would have been at least double. It rained nearly all the time and the going was very heavy. Falls were numerous, but no one was any the worse. The throw-off took place just behind Mr H. S. Reunert's house, and the run was through the fields (up to Mr Whitelaw's) of Messrs Dunne, Toshe, Chirnside, and M'Addie. In this were included some good stiff jumps — jumps that frightened a few of the local sports from following. The huntsman pronouriced tne run the best he has seen this season. The following was very select owing to the nature of the country, and it is not a difficult matter to name those who were in at the finish in both runs. The huntsman led the way on his well-known mount Bofchwell, followed closely by his appointed whip W. Dalglei.sh on Harlaw, our deputy master (Mr Harry Heckler) on his clever Potens, Mr A. Dabinett on Peri, Mr A. Grinley on Flamingo, Mr H. Hogg on Venus, Mr N. Reid on a grey, Mr ]VV. Woods on Chandler, Mr J. C. Paterson on the reliable Twilight, Mr J. Dunne on a bay. All of these went straight through, and lots of others kept the roads. The first in after tke huntsman and master were Messrs A. Dabinett, A. Grinley, W. Dagleish (whip), then came the field.
