WANDERERS v. PHCENIX.

A cricket match between the Wanderers Club (Invercargill) and the Phcenix Club was played on the Caledonian ground Friday, and resulted in a w v in for the homo team. The poor stand made by the Phranix in their first innings gave the impression that they would loose the match. Six wickets fell for nine runs, but Moore altered this state of matters by hittiug the bowlers hard all over the field for a merry innings of 36. Still the Phcenix men, when the last wicket fell, were 18 runs to the bad. In their second attempt the visitors scored 46, which left the Phcenix batsmen 65 runs to get to win. With only one hour to play the chances did not seem at all in their favour, but Harris came to the rescue with a fine innings of 41 not out, which virtually won the match.
