Star of the East Quartz-mining Company, Carrick Range.
The mine manager, in his report dated the 2nd hist., says : — " Since the date of my last report the mine has continued in appearance much about the same. lam still rising up, and getting stone with ordinary good prospects. The body of stone is thicker than any patch we ever had in the drive. Some days we are able to get out two tons of stone, other days only one, and sometimes not so much. The distance driven, including the uprise, is 887 ft, and I believe we will have other 40ft to lise yet before we reach the old workings, and I trust we will be able to do this without having to resort to air-pipes."
