Wakatipu Mining- Notes.
Arrow, September 9.
At Criffel things are still as they were a week ago. No prospecting has been done, and consequently no new discoveries are reported. Snow, raiii, and storms have had the field pretty much to themselves, and it is questioned by parties who have returned from it lately whether it will be n't to inhabit before the end of October. There are about 200 men camped at various points of the neighbourhood of the field, and n few make occasional attempts to do a little work. The opinions of those returning from the field are very contradictory, so that it is impossible to give anything like reliable information about its extent or value.
