Lhe Victorian Government have requested Admiral Tryoa, commanding the Australian station, to despatch a man-of-war to the Auckland Islands to search for the passengers and crew of the ship North American, which sailed from Melbourne for England in February last, avA which has not since been heard of. .September 7. Admiral Tryon, in reply to the request of the Victorian Government to send a vessel to* the Auckland Islands to search for survivors, from the- ship North American, has stated thai he believes such a search would be useless, Sydney, September 4.
