THE RANK ROBBERY IN MELBOURNE.
(Reutbr's Telegrams.) Melbourne, August 26. The prisoner Robinson has confessed that he stole the money from the Hotham Bank. He states that he broke open the drawers of the safe with a chisel, and abstracted the contents. He then hired a cab and went to Brighton Beach, where he buried the money in the sand. The police this morning searched the spot indicated and recovered the buried money, with the exception of £200, which is still unaccounted for. (Received August 20, at 10 p.m.) Robinson was to-day brought up at the Police Court charged with robbing. the Hotham Bank, and remanded for a week, in order that the evidence might be arranged.
