We understand that already some inquiries have been received from gentlemen 'connected with mining ventures in the Southern Island, ab to the cost ot furnace aud plant. Mr La Monte having made over all his rights to the Auckland syndicate, all applications for furnaces and right to use them must be made here, and a royalty be paid to this syndicate for each ton of ore smelted.
