A Want —An attempt is being roade to get up auction Males for stock at Winton — a want that has long been felt, It has been matter of surprise that the thousands of fhe?p from the east, tbe west, and the north, as far as tho l»ke, pass through Winton to Wallacetown, change hands, and return through Winton, at rmv-h cost to the owners and detriment to the flocks ; while by saled here four days' travol and expense, as well as the condition of the flocks, would be saved. The same remark applies to cattlo, of which a large number aro bred in the district. Sporting. -Our local Jockey Club put forward a good liat of events to come off on tho Ptince of Wales' Birthday. A large number of horses are in training in the district, and the annual gathering promises to be a success. The cour-e (of which it has been mid there is not a better ia the Colony) is in very good condition, and ia kept with groat care.
