Land Board.

The adjourned meeting of the Land Board was held on Thursday, when there were present: Messrs J. P. Maitland (chief commissioner), R. Stout, J. B. Bradshaw, James Green (M.H.R.), Henry Clark, and John Duncan. TIGER HILL. Mr W. L. Simpson, on behalf of W. Leask, complained of a portion of section 22, block I, Tiger Hill, being granted to Mr E-. Smith, the Board having previously decided to dispose of it by auction. — It was resolved that, Mr Smith having made application to withdraw his proposal, he be allowed to do so. Mr 0. Smith wrote withdrawing his application for portion of section 22, block I, Tiger Hill, and asked that he be allowed to purchase 15 acres of section 4, block I ; or, failing that, a portion of either section 3 or 5, in the same block. -Referred to the chief surveyor and Public Works Office for survey of railwayline. I SILVER PEAKS. Mr W. W. Francis applied for leave to absent himself for three months from deferredpayment sections 2 and 3, blocks IV and V, Silver Peak district.— Declined. LOWEB WANAKA. Messrs • Connell and Moodie, on behalf of Felix Fox, applied to have section 2, block V, Lower Wanaka, opened on deferred payment, or to be allowed to purchase same at 20s per acre. — It was resolved that the Government be recommended to open sections 1, 2, and 3, block V, Lower Wanaka ; also sections 5, 7, 8, and 9, block 111, Lower Hawea, on deferred payment, at 30s per acre. "WYNDHAM. Messrs Connell and Moodie, on behalf of Robert Kidd, in reference to his application for a coal license in the township of Wyndham, stated that one section only, as granted him by the Board, would be of no service, and unless he could obtain a license for both sections he would withdraw his application. — The Board declined to alter its previous decision. JIANIOTOTO. Messrs Oonnell and Moodie applied, on behalf of Messrs Rowley and Hamilton,, for a license under section 25 of " The Public Reserves Act 1871" to occupy the forest tree-planting reserve fronting the Taieri River, and adjoining sections 3, 4, and 5, block XIV, Maniototo. — The application was declined. RUN 223 a. Mr W. L. Simpson, on behalf of the executors of the latg James G-. G. Glassford, renewed his application for 320 acres as a preemptive right on run 223 a, and at his request the application was further adjourned for a week. -" run 261k. Messrs Oonnell and Moodie, as agents for Sir F. D. Bell and Mr Watson Shennan, applied for a division of run 261k into two portions — one license to be in the name of Mr Shennan at a yearly rental of £44 13b 9d,the sther in Sir F. D. Bell's name at a rental of £360 6s 3d. — The application was agreed to. WAITAHUNA. The Warden at Lawrence reported on the application of miners at Waitahuna Gully, and recommended that sections 92, 93, and 94, block V, Waitahuna East, be withdrawn from perpetual leasing, as the land is situated in the main gully, where most of the miners' residences stand. — It was resolved to give effect to the recommendation. GOLD-MINING LEASES. Certificates of application for gold-mining leases were recommended for the approval of the Governor from the following persons : — Stephen Foxwell and others, William Wookey and another, Geo. Lithgow and another, Bernard O'Neill, Union Gold-mining Company, James White and others, Cairn Hill ; Thomas Forgie, Gee Wee and others, James Meikle, Richard Gale and another, William Willliamson and another, and George Carlyle, Kyeburn; .Enterprise Gold-mining Company, Shotover. MOUNT HYDE. It was resolved to withdraw section 16, block XIX, Mount Hyde district, from sale, as a camping-ground for stock. WAIAU RIVER. Mr A. Cameron made application that a small portion of Crown land along the coast, situated between the Waiau River and the Grooveburn, comprising about 2000 acres, be offered under pastoral lease. — Applicant to be asked to forward a sketch showing how far along the coast, and how deep, the land he refers to extends. , OTAKIA. Ranger Hughan reported having inspected ! sections 35, 1 of 29, block V, and sections 2 of 45, and 3 of 45, block IV, Otakia, lately held under pastoral lease by Reid and Kirby, and recommended that they be offered for sale at 21s per acre.— lt was resolved to offer the land at auction as land of special value, at 25s per acre. OTEPOPO. It was resolved to iasue licenses for deferredpayment village settlement as follows :— Wm, Nicolson, section 62, block I, Otepopo ; Elizabeth Nicolson, section 68, block I, Otepopo. NASEBY.' The District Land Officer at Naseby reported on the coal license over section 1, block VII, Naseby, held by Peter Howard, the reut being in arrear to the extent of £60. — It was resolved to take proceedings for the recovery of the rent. WAIHEMO. Regarding the clearance of rabbits off sections 17 and 51, Waihemo district, it was resolved to request the sheep inspector to obtain a tender from Mr Deem, with grazing right included in his estimate.
