The craik, which lasted several teconds, was terrific, rssemb'iiug somewhat tho crack from the simultaneous^ discharge of a field of hea\ y ordnance An explosion' seemed to occur over the Oardrona township News has reached here that a meteoric stone fell in or near the townsnip, entering the ground to an unknown depth. The day was intensely hot; not a cloud was vit-ible, and bcarceiy a breath stirred the atmo•phore. Mining — Gold is being obtained at the head of the Luggate Creek. Several parties are out. Prospects of an encouraging nature have been washed, but a supply of water is sort-iy needed. It is to be hoped the summit of Mount Ci iff nil will get a thorough prospeoting during the ensuing season.
