Dunedin Chess and Draughts Club.
The Club met for the ficst time in their new quartersq uarters in the Central Cafe, Princes street, on Monday nteht There was a largo attendance; the president. Mr David R. Hay, presided. After a good deal of friendly discussion, it was decided to fix upau Mjndav and Wednesday ni K hta for practice, commencing 'at 7 o clock. The drawing in the handicap tournament was tnen proceeded with, and immediately afterwa ds the p ajers sat down for actual pliy. Nearly all the available boards were simultaueou-ly engaged and the room presented quite an animated appearance The time for enteiing the tournament hat been extended for another fortnight, so as to allow new members to take part should they wish, to do so. it is believed that many new membfrs will' join, now that there are two nights for piactice every week Two new members were elected at the meeting.
