(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.) July 10. Hooper's Inlet School Committee. — The ordinary monthly meeting of this Committee was held on the 14tn July. Present :— Messrs J. Young (chairman), G Clark, J. Sheppard, A. Clark, and J. Clark.— A letter which was received from Mr Pryde, secretary to the Education Board, in reference to a communication from the Clerk, and which had been held over fiom last meeting, was brought up for consideration. After some discussion, it was decided to ask Mr Pryde why the closet and tank had not been painted, and ventilators put into the school, seeing that ttiese matters had been passed by the Board some time ago.— Accounts to the amount of £3 83 fid were passed for payment. — It was decided to renew the application to the Education Board for a teachei's residence. — The average attendance at the school for the quarter was 30.

Portobello Scuool COMMITTEE.— The monthly meeting of this C 'mmittee Wr-s held on the 16th. Present : — Messrs J. M Cartney (chairman), W. Garrick, and R. Biteson. — Tne Chairman reported that the quarter's allowance, £7 10s, had been received.— Accounts to the amount of £5 17s were passed for payment.— lt was ieported that au additional room to the master's residence was to bo erected, also grate for fireplace ; the C uimittee to pay half the cost of the erection of the room.— lf. was derided, to call for tenders, to be m by next meeting, for making a footpath to tho soh joI.
