Mr J. H. Houldsworth has sustained a severe loss by the death of Adriana, his three-year-old daughter of Adventurer and Morgiana. Although the filly had been down for some time past, hopes of her recovery were the other day entertained, but a relapse occurred. Adriaua showed good form last sea son, and when she made her debut in the New ■Stakes at Ascot, bowled over the odd* laid ou Rookery, who had been a smart performer U> tiiat date. Although Mr Houidsworth's filly was not in the first three for the Middle Park Plate, she beat Macheath, the winner of thai race, in a Post Sweepstakes at the Newmarket Houghton meeting, when the pair met at the same relative weights, odds being laid on the lai^ Cmwfurd'a colt. Count Kiusky received a tremendous ovation on winning the Grand National Steeplechase on his mare Zoedoue. He is an Austrian whose heart and sou) are to the fullest extent identified with English spoit, and there is no rider more popular or better known in the Bicester, Warwickshire, or the Grafton country than the princely owner of Zoedone. Count Kinsley has a Btud of hunters near Bambuvy. The results of the Derby and Oaks will be found below. Particulars of the Newmarket meetings are held over till next week.
