April 18th. Saw Auction. — The event of the past week bas been ifco out auction in aid of a fund to build a hall for tbe Qotia Tanplnr body. On Friday afternoon and evenlag' last a varied selection of donations were sold by Messrs Green and Souncss. For some time past, the Good lemplars and their friends bare been bu«y makisg preparations for the event, and the sequel ehowi that their efforts have been very fairly successful. Tl>« proceeds will total up the very respectable ■urn of '£6o or thereabouts. I hope Boon to be in a position to report the erection of a suitable building. VotOß of thanks were accorded to Mr Green for hiß gratuitous services, the public for their liberal support, and the Church of Kngland Committee for generously postponing their gift auction. Blub Ribbou Movkmbot.— A branch of this detachment of the temperance army was inaugurated by the Rev. Mr Mackenzie on Monday evening last, from those who were present to listen to the address of the lev. gentlemen 42 signed the pledge provided, and had the simple bodge of blue attached to their breasts.
