The Coming Interprovincial Race.

The crew that will represent the Otago Rowing Club m their annual race with the Canterbury Club have now been steadily practising for the last three weeks. Since we last saw them the crew have materially improved, notably No. 2 and bow and now seem fairly at home in their boat. Still the boat lacks the life at the beginning one would like to see, and particular attention should be paid to this want during the remainder of the practice. Stroke is inclined to get short at times, and must not allow himself to be hurried by those behind him. A fault, too, is that the crew allow their slides to run away from them, whereby they miss finishing the stroke. In other respects the crew are going well, and seem to have plenty left in them at the end of their distance. We trust they maybe fortunate as regards weather for the remainder of their practice. The crew that have been chosen to represent the Canterbury Club are as follow:— A. C Lean, stroke ;E. M. Boulton, 3 ; J. F. Grierson, 2 ; J. O. Jones, bow. They are rowing this year in a new boat, just imported, built by bwaddle and Winship. The race, which takes place on the 23rd mst. on the Taieri River, will be rowed, we are informed, about midday. A special train will be laid on to convey passengers to and from the scene of the race at a convenient time.
