At a meeting of creditors held in Wellington of Mr R. W. Oary, the following figures concerning his two ventures with " The Pirates of Penzance "were tabled: — " Mr Cary had taken up the 'Pirates of Penzance,' for which he paid £400 for the right of production for eight months. The receipts from the performance of this in the principal towns in New Zealand amounted to £(5081 Us 6d. The expenses, including the £400 which was paid for the right to play, also salaries and working expenses, amounted to £0272 18s Id. It would therefore be seen that upon the actual moneys paid by Mr Cary on the first trip, there had been an actual loss of £191 6s 7d. With a hope of recouping himself, Mr Oary had .started on a trip with the Juvenile Pirates, but here again there had been a loss, the actual receipts being £013 17s 7d, and the expenses £707 4s. Besides this, Mr Ashton had received 60 per cent, of tlae proceeds. The total loss on both ventures was £(U3 13s 7il. Mr Gary had received nothing whatever excopt his bare expenses, which i'oi 1 an enterprising man like Mr Cary was a mailer for regret. Mr Cary fsn.ifl Mr Saunders had advanced the £400 for the pnrchahe of the right to produce ' The Pirates,' i and was therefore the heaviest loser," ,
