THE ADVANTAGES OF WINTER DAIRYING. TO THE EDITOR.

Sir, — At the' tenth annual convention of the Wisconsin State Dairymen's Association, which was held in January last, the above subject was discussed, as you will see by the subjoined extract, by men who have made it their study for many years. You will perceive that the practical results of that experience carry so much proof with 1 them that I think the subject matter of the discussion will be worthy of the earnest attention of our settlers' here, and that at once, and not after they have impovished their ground so that it will grow little .besides sorrel, as in some districts is even now the case. . We are blessed with a climate far superior to the Eastern or Western States of America, and in addition to this we have the assurance now that our beef and mutton can be as successfully placed in tho markets of the old world in as sound and good a condition as it can at present be put in that of Dunedin. I need say no more. The question is there in its naked truth ; the details are for our farmers' solution at as little loss to themselves as possible ; but let them not* forget, that, not only their individual success, but the success of this colony, mainly depends on that and its wool. — I am, &c,

W. D. Sutherland.
