Effect of Coloured Glass on Liquids.

A German scientific journal recently published an article on the effect of the colour of glass bottles on the liquors contained therein, in which the following interesting statements were made : — Liquors contained in colourless bottles, when exposed for some time to the light, acquire a disagreeable taste, notwithstanding the fact that they may have been of superior quality before being so treated. Liquors contained in&bi'uwn or gruen bottlos, however, remain unchanged in quality, even if exposed to the sunlight. This phenomenon has not received pioyer aLleutiou liovulufore, and quality has often been sacrificed for the sake of outward appearance. Since the results of the abovo treatmeu arc due to he hemical action of light, it is advisable to use red,

orange, yellow, green or opaque bottleß for the preservation or liquors, while colourless, blue, and violet ones should be entirely discarded.
