Licensing Committees. NORTH TAIERI.
The quarterly meeting of the^ North Taieri Licensing Committee was held in the Schoolhouse on Friday. Present : Messrs S. Young, W. A. Todd, H. Purvis, and J. Brown. . A letter of apology from Mr Murdoch for non-attendance was read.
Mr Young was elected chairman. The inspector presented his report for the last quarter, which showed that there was only one licensed house in the district.— Tho report was considered satisfactory. • A register of licenses and record, 1 in accordance with the Act, waa prescribed and adopted. Saturday, April 29th, was considered a convenient date for holding a poll.pf the ratepayers re granting new licenses.
PENINSULA. The first meeting of the Licensing Committee of the above district was held in the schoolhouse, Anderson's Bay, at noon on Friday. The members were all present — viz., Messrs Glendining, Nicol, Robertson, Souness, and White. Mr White was elected chairman,
The report of the inspector was read, from which it appeared that the houses in the district are all very well conducted. The Committee resolved to require the licensees of the several hotels to keep lamps burning in front of their houses until 10 o'clock at night.
BLUESKIN. The first meeting of the lately-elected Licensing Committee was held at the Good Templars' Hall on Friday at noon, the members present being Messrs W. Goldie K. B. Ferguson, H. Clark, E. Jones, and D. Martin. On the motion of Mr Ferguson, seconded by Mr Clark, Mr Wm. Goldie was appointed Chairman.
The Chairman read accounts forwarded by the Returning-officer (Mr Netherwood) in connection with the late election, and these were passed for payment. The license of the Crescent Hotel, Mansford Town, was transferred from Alexander Blair to Edward Lyons. Some discussion took place regarding the local option clauses of the Licensing Act, and it was left in the hands of the Chairman to fix a date for the polling.
HAUNGATUA,
The quarterly meeting of the Maungatua Licensing Committee took place on the Bth in the schoolhouse, Woodside. All the members were present. Mr David Carruthers was elected chairman. The Inspector's report for the dictrict was presented and favourably received. Forms for register of licenses and record of applications were prescribed. Saturday, April 22nd, was considered a convenient date for the poll of ratepayers.
