GAMES PRIVILEGES.
At their rooms on the 28th Messrs M'Landreas, Hepburn, and Co. offered for sale the refreshment booths and privileges at the forthcoming Caledonian sports, to be held on the Society's grounds on January 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, 1882 ; also the right of printing and selling tho programmes in connection therewith.JThere wa3 a good attendance, but bidding was far from brisk, the highest offers in some cases exceeding little more than a tenth of the price obtained last year. To a slight extent this state of affairs is probably due to the increased fee imposed by the new Licensing Act. The whole of the privileges for the sale of spirituous liquors and general refreshments were passed in with the exception of Nos. 18, 19, and 20, which were disposed of as follows :— No. 18, Mr C. C. Armstrong, at £14 ; No. 19, Mr George Nelson, for £20 ; No. 20, Mr Wm. Eames, for £26. The Btalls for fruit, confectionery, &c— Nob, 12, 13, and 14— were bought by Messrs Elliott and Buchanan for £21. The bidding for the right of printing and selling the programmes was very keen, Mr C. C. Armstrong being the purchaser at £38 17s. After the sale a large number of applications were made for the unsold booths, but it has been decided to dispose of them by tender. The total amount realised was £119 175.
