Napier, October 12th. The Racing Club's Spring meeting took place to-day, on a temporary course at Pakowhai. Partly owing to other attractions, partly owing to the small fields, the attendance was not very large. MAIDEN PLATE, Of 25 soys. One and a-quartor mile. Mr Walters' Slander filly, 7st 131b .. 1 Mr Jones' Ohikakarewa, 7st 111b. . . . 2 Mr Russell's Sydney, 7st 61b .. ..3 The Squire also started- The Slander filly won very easily, pulling doublo. HANDICAP HURDLES, Of 40 soys. Two miles. Mr Lyons' Loch Lomond, list 41b . . 1 Mr Douglas' Uira, 12st 101b .. ..2 Mr Ruddick's Morning Star, list 41b .. 3 There were no other starters. Looh Lomond, who was ridden with great jndgment by Edwards, waited in rear until near home, when he went to the frost and won in a canter by a length ; Morning Star a bad third. RACING CLUB'S HANDICAP, ' Of 75 soys. One and a-half mile. M'Donald's pair, Badaworth and Foul Play, were the only ones that went to the post. He declared to win with Badsworth, and the pair cantered round. HAWKE'S BAY STAKES, Of 40 soya. One mile. Mr Jones' Prim, 6st 121b . . . . . . 1 Mr Ruddick's Merlin, Bst 41b .. ..2 Grand Duchess, Oat . . . . . . 3 There were no other starters. After a good race between Prim and Duchess, the former wont to the front and won pretty easily.
