TAIERI ROAD BOARD
Tho monthly meeting of this Board was held on Wednesday, the sth, Mr Carmichael in tho ohair, all the members boing present. _ The minutes of tho provious meoting wore read and confirmed „ . . Tho Clerk reperted that there wero still a few ratepayers in arrears.-llesolved— " That all such bo sued by tho end of tho month." Messrs Miller and Sutherland reported on repairs to Queon street, that same stand over for a month. Proposed by Mr J. Millar, seconded by Mr J. Sutherland—" That a general rate of 6d In the pound on all property in tho district bo made on the 2nd November next, to be payable on tho 81st Docember for tho year ending 31st March, 1882." Mr Smith, of Gladfleld, here handed in a petition signed by nearly all tho ratepayers in the Breadalbane subdivision, praying that in consequence of the large balance standing to the credit of the said subdivision there be only a rato of Id in the pound levied on Breadalbane. After a little argument thereon, the Cnauman said that a special rate might bo struck on each subdivision, whereupon Mr J. Wylie moved an amendment, and Mr VT. Shand seconded— " That a special rate of 6d in tho pound be mado on the East TJflieri and Breadalbaae subdivisions only, instead of a general rate. Tho motion and amendment being put to tho meeting, tho motion was cart lad. Keaolvod— " That the management of the road to the East Taieri Cemetery bo taken by lire Board, in accordance with section 178 o* the Rood Boards A«4 ;
the East 'Taierl Deacons' Court paying all expenses in transferring the same." Notices of motion for next meeting were given as °By W Mr~Mlllar- (< That the unfinished part of the road known as Brown's road be gravelled. By Mr Sutherland-" That hand-rails be put on road leading from Wylie's crossing towards North Taicri School be gravelled. By Mr Kirkland— " That the Meadow Bank road be V %^r e tr^°S^^ leading <*> michael's crossing toward Owhiro be made. Account were passed for payment to tho amount Of £20 125.
