"'.'_.» i Secondly, he says that I don't appear to be aware that Mr Ussher surveyed this.road-Hnf uithe year 1866,. ,'andthis would have been quite sufficient if the Board 'had known of the existence of the survey. Now the : facts of the case are these. About the date mentioned Mr Ussher commenced to survey a road-lino through section 85 as a deviation apart from the dotted line, .but he only got a little more than half the length of this road-line when he was , called away : by the Government, as 1 his services were required 'bomewhers else, and he never returned to survey the .remaining portion of it to this day, so that in is imSposaiblo for Mr Ussher to have given any plan of this 1 rood-line as a whole through section 36. 1 hopr the ' Portobello correspondent will read this last note carefully, and compare it with what has he stated, and he will find a marked difference between fact and fiction.— l am, &c, J.
