Prolific Ewes.
On th« 21st August, lasts year, the Bendigo Independent reported! an extraordinary instance of the fecundity of two eyes bred by Mr W. G-. Bentley on his farm at itfyers Plat. Last year the oldest of the ewes producedno less than four lambs. This season the same ewe brought forth another quartette, three ewes and one ram. The ram died shortly after birth, but the other three are strong and healthy. This ewe, which is no lesa than seven years old (#ery aged for a breeding sheep), has given birth to fifteen lambs in four years— viz., 1877 (when two years old), to twins ; 1878. 1879, and 1880, triplets in each year ; and in 1880-81 quartettes in each year.
