JOL ALLAN'S ANTI-FAT (Trade Mark "Anti-Fat," registered) is the celebrated American remedy for corpulency. It is purely vegetable, being: a compound concentrated fluid extract of sea lichens, and is perfectly harmless. No particular change of diet required. Will reduce a fat person from 21b. to 61b. a week. It acts upon the food in the stomach, prerentlnfc its conversion into fat. "Corpulency is not only a disease of itself, but the harbinger of others/ wrote Hippocrates 2000 years ago, and what was true then is not loss true to-day. The consequences of obesity are often mow serious than Is generally supposed. The thick accumulations of fat is the tissue* mechanically oppress adjacent organs, thereby producing dyspneaua (shortness of breath) and disturbance In the circulation, characterised by palpitation of the heart, fainting, determination of blood to ths brain, derangements of the stomach, liver, kidneys, uterus, Ac. In consequence of the congestion of the stomach, the patient becomes dlspeptic, and is tormented with flatulency, asciduity of the tomach, and eructations. The impediments to a free circulation of the blood, and the increased pressure o( the masses ef fat throughout the system on the bloodvesssels, produce a determination of blood to the brain, whence arise somnolency, torpor of the mental and physical functions, and not infrequently appoplexy. Obesity is undoubtedly not an infrequent cause of fatty degeneration of the heart and liver. Speaking of the heart, a late author says:— "Some of the instances of sudden death of fat people may be reasonably ascribed to a rupture of the organ in this weakened state." LLAN'S ANTI-FAT is endorsed by those eminent in the medical profession. THOMAS FAIKBANK, M.D., of Windsor, Surgeon to her Majesty the Queen, referring to ANTI-PaT in the "British Medical Journal" of June 7, 1879, nays ;— " Igave some of this extract (Fucus Veeiculosus to a very corpulent lady, who in three months lost three stones in weight without any change of diet. Since then I have frequently given it for reducing weight depending on the accumulation of adipose tissue, and have never found it fail. I may state that a patient who has lately been taking it as an anti-fat, and who always suffered very much from rheumatic pains aboutthe body, has been entirely freed from such trouble while she has been taking the extract, * fact which sho quite independently noted."
