The U. S S. Co.'s Nelson Cup

Twenty-three members of the City Guards fired in the first competition for the Nelson Cup at their range, Lawyer's Head, on Saturday morning. The Union Steam Ship Company presented this cap to the National Rifle Amociation at Nelson in March last, and it was earned off by the City Guards, who wrested it from all the "crack " companies at that meetnig. They a short time since decided to shoot Ju under the following conditions : — ifae highest scorer in each match to count five points, the second four, the third three, the fourth two, and the fifth one point ; the com. petitor who firat scores 21 points to be declared the winner. As the trophy is valued at 30 guineas, a keen struggle for it will take place before it becomes the absolute property of any competitor. The following scored 38 pointa and over.
