Grand Lodge of New Zealand 1.0. G.T.
The Grand Lodge of flew Zealand, 1.0. G.T., held a specialsession in the UpperTemperanceHallon Wednes day evening. The Grand Lodge was opened at 7 o'clock by the G.W.C.T., Bro. Rev. Thos. Roseby, LL.D The other officers were— Bro. Captain Davis (Syoney), , G.W. Counsellor; Bro. H. Bennetts (Christchurch), G.W.V.T.; Bro. J. W. Ja#o, P.G.W.C.T.; Bro. D. C. Cameron, G.W.S.: Bro. W. Carr, G.W.T.; Bro. J. N. Buttle (Balclutha), G. Chaplain; Bro. R. Stirling, G.M.; Sister Liddle, G.D.M.; Bro. Low, G.S. About 40 members of the Grand Lodge were also in attendance. Thehall was decorated with temperance banners and other furnishings. The Grand Lodge Degree.was conferred on 37 brothers and 15 sisters, who presented proper credentials as officers and past-officers of subordinate lodges in Dunedin and vicinity. After the G.W.C.T. addressed a few words of counsel and encouragement to the Grand Lodge members, the meeting was thrown open to members of the subordinate lodges and their friends, as arranged, about 200 being in attendance. Short addresses were delivered during the evening bearing on various phases of the temperance movement by Bro. Rev. Dr Roseby, Bro. Rev. J. Christie, Bro. Rev. J. Buttle, Bro. H. Bennetts, Bro. Strachan, Bro. J. W. Jago, and Bro. J. A. D. Adama. Tea and refreshments were served at 9 o'clock, and tended much to the sociability of the meeting. Professor Hughes presided at the piano, and accompanied, several songs,* which were interspersed between the' addresses. A most enjoyable and successful meeting was concluded by singing the National Anthem.
