SPORTING. Nominations for the Hurdle, Tally-ho, Novol, Steeple, Forbury, and Flying Handicaps, before 8 p.m. on SATURDAY, 29th January, 1881. Weights will appear as follows :— Hurdle Handicap, SATURDAY, sth February, 1881; Tally-ho, City Stakes, and Novel Handicaps, on the evening of the first day's races ; . Steeplechase, Forbury, and Flying Handicaps, on the evening of the second day's races. General Entries on THURSDAY, 10th February, 1881. All Entrances must be in sealed covers, addressed to the Secretary, and contain entrance-money, sweepstakes, desenption and age of horse. The jockeys' colours, those registered exeepted, must be stated in the entrance-form, under a penalty of 2 soys, which while unliquidated will disqualify any horse whose owner or nominator has incurred such a penalty. When two or more horses start, the property of the same owner, a distinguishing colour must be worn. Any person neglecting this rule to be fined 2 soys. . , All persons intending to withdraw horses, or make declarations to win, are required to give notice to that effect to the Secretary or Clerk of the Scales at least half an hour before the advertised time of starting. Any person neglecting or refusing to comply with this rule shall pay a fine, to be imposed by the Stewards, not exceeding 6 soys. to the Race Fund. All races to be run under Dunedin Jockey Club Rules and new scale of weight for age. In estimating penalties, all races other than handicaps shall be considered weight-for-age races. In the event of any person entering a protest, the sum of £2 28 must be lodged with the Secretary before such protest is considered. This sum to be forfeited to the funds should the Stewards consider the protest frivolous or vexatious. Fiye per cent, will be deducted from the gross of all moneys, paid in accordance with the programme, for expenses. All disputes, claims, and {objections arising out of the racing shall be decided by the Stewards, or whoever they may appoint. Their decision on, all points connected with the carrying out of Programme shall be final. Entries received only under these conditions. All entries should be made on the Club's Printed Forms op Entry, which may be obtained, from the Secretaries of the Dunedin, Canterbury, Wellington, and Auckland Clubs.
