Waste Lands Board.

The. weekly meeting of the Land Board was heldj on the 11th. There were present— Messrs J. P. Mait-j land (chairman), H. Clark, C. S. Reeves, and J. Green. ! The following business was transacted :— \ orookston. > On reading over the minutes, the Chairman drew attention to the fact that section 8, block XII, Crook-, ston, had at last meeting been agreed to be sold by auction. E. Johnston and William Galloway applied for a license to prospect for coal on section 6, block I, 1 Waikaia.— -Referred to the Warden. kurow. i The Clerk of the Waitaki County Council forwarded 1 plan showing roads through deferred-payment blocks on which the Council pr6posed to expend £150, and requesting approval of same.— Approval granted. • WAIAREKA. ! The Clerk of the Waiareka Road Board asked that the sale of section 53, block 111, Oamaru (containing about one-eighth of an acre), should be stayed, ana the section reserved, being situate at the convor-' gence of three roada. , The Chairman said the section had been bought and paid for, and suggested that the Road Board should deal with the purchaser. j The application was declined. j run 369. ■ ! Messrs Cargill and Anderson applied to purchase 180 acres alongside their pre-emptive right on Run 369, in order to complete their boundaries and get a site for constructing a dam. — The Warden was asked to rej port on the application. SUBDIVISION OF RUN. I Messrs Cargills, Gibbs and Co., on behalf of T. C. Hill, applied that Run 429aa be subdivided, and two fresh licenses issued— one to C. B. James and A) M'Phail, for 1170 acres, and the other to T. C. Hill) for the balance. The application was made under section 129 of the Land Act. ' Deferred for one week, in order that inquiries might be made as to a suitable boundary. j waiau. ! William Chirm applied for a pastoral license over 7000 acres on the west of the Waiau River, between Runs 303 and 413.

The Chairman said he had made inquiry into this matter, and found that there was not the slightest objection to the application ; indeed, it was a good thing to get the chance of leasing such out-of-the-way country. ' Resolved to recommend the Government to approve the exposing of the area by auction. : DEFERRED PAYMENTS. { Frederick Egan applied for a reduction in tho price of his deferred-payment section 28, block VII, Rock and Pillar.— The Board had no power to grant the application. 1 The following applications to purchase were granted: —Charles Road, section 31, block I, Chatton ; Thomas M'lntyre, sections 50 and 56, block VII, Shotover. j The following applications for licenses wore aapr' r proved :— John Jewitt, section 19 ; Allan Johnstoni section 18; James M'Dowell, section 11— all of block 11, Tuapeka West. GOLD-MINING LEASE. The following certificate of application was approved :— James Nicolson, section 35, block I, St. Bathans. ' AGRICULTURAL LEASES. ' The following applications were approved :— Robert Richardson, section 4, block XII, Benger ; Thomas Anderson, section 2, block IX, Tarras. The application of John M'Bride, for section 11; block 111, Upper Wakatipu, was referred to tho Warden for report on objection received. !
