New Bills.

Education Reserves Bill, Mr De Lautour has introduced the Education Beserves Act Amendment Bill. It provides as follows :— School commissioners may^ classify any of the education reserves or. portions, thereof proclaimed, reserved, or appo'r^ tioned for primary education in the manner I provided in section 38 of " The Land Act, 1877," and may classify any portions of such reserves being rural land as agricultural and pastoral land respectively, as provided in ta« said Act, The Governor may from time to time set apart any portions of the education reserves for primary education, being agricultural lands, as lands which may be dealt with as Crown lands. , Any portions of education resarvea for primary education set apart shall be deemed to be Crown lands, and may be sold, leased, or otherwise disposed of in terms of the laws regulating the disposition of Grown lands for the time being in fores in the Provincial District in which such lands are situate. The net proceeds of all lands Bold, leased, or otherwise disposed of shall be paid to the school commissioners of the Provincial District, to be invested in Government debentures or other seouritiea,Bubject to the conditions under which the lands i were originally vested in the commissioners as education reserves. All revenue derived from runs so invested shall be disposed of as provided by " The Education Eeserves Act, 1877." Powers conferred upon school committees by Bection 14, | Education Reserves Act, 1877, shall only be exercised in the case of lands which have been classified aa consisting wholly of pastoral lands. Nothing in the Act shall affect, limit, or impair 'any transaction the school commissioners have lawfully done in their capacity as oommis. sioners.
