YOUTH'S RECOLLECTIONS.

Amid fair Kerry's toweriDg hills My native homo doth sttnd, Encircled by two murmuring rills, And with soft breezes funned. Full well do I remember How Oich day ere set of tun, In sweet Gurthduvo I'd linger, My dally toil being done ; And there with merry dauce and song Would while the hours away, With comrades who were brave and strong, And maidens young and gay. Ah! they were happy days to me, Those joyful days at home, When my heart w»b g*y and fres, X\or had misfortune known. And now I love to recall The dear and happy times Spent at each town or village ball, Devoid of care and crimes. Boyhood's cherished partners Oh ! where are they to dny ? To the earth's utmost corner* They have found their war. Far from their native fountains They were compelled to go, Some, amid foreign mountains,, To fight old Engiand's.foe. Farewell my native birtk-place Of groat and ancient same, May tyrants n'er thy wroHgi increase, Nor vilifiers defame. . May the giver of all bounties Shower happiness on thee, Tbou noblest of countries, For ever loßt to me.

Teaneraki, May, 1880.
