No. 1 has bien solved by quite & number of correspondents. No. 2.— ln reference to tbia problem, Mr E. E. Smythies writes:—" I see in your issue for this week a problem on the Fifteen Gem Puzzle marked No. 2, and in answer to it, beg to send the following solution, which, I think, if you get them into the position as given below, will come out correct, no matter what way they Me in vthen you start:— 11 12 1 2 10-16 8 9 14 18 4 87 0 5 Alter getting them into th s position, you move the 12 Into the blank below, and tnen commence moving the 1 into the place where tho 12 was, the 2 text, and so on ; always keeping on the outiide until you have them in their proper places, viz :— 12 8 4 56 7 8 9 10 11 12 18 14 15 - [The problem is capable of being done if you get the numbers into thi position named by our correspondent; but we fancy some difficulty will be found iv getting them into that position,]
