manly sons — - The Prince Imperial Is dead .' re-echoes like a knell ; Yes, pierced by cruel assegais, the brave young Frenchman felL Hourn England, for thy noble guest, 'twas in thy cause
he bled, On victory's eve, alas ! bo lay, low numbered with the
dead. Yet 'mid thy mighty sorrow, how glorious 'tis to know He died as horoeg love to die, his face turned to the
foe. Oh! who can paint the mother's woe 1 The sad, short
tale i* told, The anguish of that bitter hour no mortal cau unfold. Take comfort, mother, for your son hua nobly borne
his part, His memory finds a resting place in a aad nation's heart.
