The news from the United Alpine Company's mine, Lyell, continues to be very Satisfactory, j During nine' days ended' 'November Bth,< the quantity of atone crushed- was 138 tons, yielding from the top plates 135 ounces of amalgam. s"he top plates were again scraped on November 12th, after four and a half days' eraahingv<the quantity of stone put through the mill during j that time being 66 tons, "with a. yield of 65 ounces of amalgam. The main level is being extended north. ' '
There is nothing new'to^eport'from Boatman's district ('says the -Grey. River Arguß of the 2nd). The battery is fully employed upon ike Fiery Cross stone. - The ' Welcome low. level ttunnel has, reached a distance of., /something over 70 feet, and the contractors expect to be finished about March next. The contractors in the intermediate tunnel are also making good progress, and the work will be completed in about two months, when tenders will ba called f or &boutrl3o feet of shaft to connect' the two levels,- and- about April or May the company .should be ready to crush. . .
