CITY GUABDS.

The City (Guards fired in the third clasß on Saturday morning, the weather being fine. Twenty-nine men competed, and 23 passed. The following scored 50 and over : —

The second competition for Shield team of the Dunedin Naval Brigade took place at Anderson's Bay on Saturday afternoon, with a very strong wind from the left. The following made 41 points and over.: —

A church parade of the Dunedin Volunteers took place on Sunday, and was numerously attended. The members of the Dunedin Naval Brigade, the Naval Cadet*, and the' Artillery mustered at the Garrison Hall at 10 a.m., and, preceded by the Headquarters Band, marched to Knox Church, where they attended divine service. The companies were in charge of Major .Jack, , but Lwatenant - Colonel Stavely was, also present.* . Of the Naval Brigade there were present — Captain G. R. Smith, -' Lieutenant, Jamieson, Sub-lieu-tenants Lyons' and Black, . one senior petty officer, seven first-class petty officers, and 68 gunners; and of' the Cadets, 41 rank and .file. The; Artillery Corps also mustered creditably; th«re .being .present— Captain Muir, Lieutenant Lambert,. Sub-lieutenant Peake, and 60 rank and file., The .band, under Mr Conductor Hume, played a number of selec l tions of sacred mu*in. including'" Ths Sweet By-and-bye," and " Hold the Port" At Kqox Church the Rev. , Dr. Stuart addressed the Volunteers rery earnestly from the words, " Put on the whole armour of God."
