MAUNGATUA.
The annual meeting of the residents of Maungatua for the election of a School Committee was held on Monday evening in the schoolroom, when a report of the Committee's proceedings for the past year w-<8 read and adopted. - Mr W. Hernan then moved, '•That it j^ould be a recommendation to the Committee to be elected for the ensuing year, that they should co-operate with other School Committees and other public bodies in the movement now being- m >de to secure the daily reading of the Bible in public schools" The motion was cordially received and adopted.— The ballot was then taken for the new Committee, when Messrs James Millar, William Heenan, John Fleming, John M 1 Donald, Alexander Graham, George M'Kenzle, and James MLuichlan were duly elected. _____
