WELLINGTON.
Wellington, January 24th. Thomas Williams, a defaulter in. connection with the Sydney Foresters' Court, was arrested in. Taucanga, arid further remanded. The custodian of the Waterworks reservoir, David Andrews, rode into town to-day, and on the way back drojipfd dead from his borae. He is believed to have had aneuriuni of the heart. January 27th. Mr F. Lnbning, tobacconist, well known in Dunedin and West Co*if , attempted to get <>f£ the tramway to-duy without asking the guard to stop. The train was* going about s"ven miles an hour. Mr Luhning stumbled and fell right under the wheels, which parsed over his body, mutilating him frightfully. Death was almoat instantaneous. \ Januaiy 28th. W. H. ParneU, who fitabbed his wile iv the ! nose with a fork, has been committed for i trial.
