WESLEYAN CONFERENCE.
Auckland, January 17th. The sixth annual meeting of the Wesleyan Conference commenced its sittings this ovening in the Pitt street Church. There was a large gathering of ministers from different parts of the Colony. Tho session being open to the public, a large number of persons were in attendance, and the church was well filled. After calling tho roll, the retiring President (Rev. J. Crump) delivered a comprehensive address in review of the past year. No death had occurred in the ranks of the ministry, and there bad been an accession of eight candidates during the year. Great progrebs had been made by the Church Extension Society, but the loan fund was much seeded. The Conference then prococrled to the election of its office-bearer?!, with the following result :■— Piev. W. Morley, president ; E»v. 11. Bavin, secretary; Eev. J. liicbardson, as-sistant-secretary ; ilev. W. A. Lee, journal secretary ; Eev. H. Bull, corresponding secre tary. The President-elect (the Eev. W. Morley) delivered a very able speech, thanking the Conference for the honour conferred upon him. He poirjted out tho chief features of work to be done, and referred to the fact that twelve additional ministers were immediately required. The Eev. E. Bavin (secretary) also addressed the Conference. — _^>
