a. There has been an increase of L9OOO in tho valuation of tbe town of Invercargill this year. It is now £47,508, while for 1878 it was £38,420. The Christchurch city valuation is L 241.808, as against L 207.605 for last year, which shows an increase of L 34.203. There are 512G ratings, while last year there were only 3,490. Last season the total amount of grain dwpatched from the diffareut districts of Canterbury amounted to 145,614 tons. The annual rateabla value of pioperty in Wellington is nearly a quarter of a million sterling, only about L 25.000 behind Dune Jin. The Post states this evening that the increase in the value of property during the past year has been considerably greater in Wellington than in Dunedin. The National Bank has declared an interim dividend at the rate of 6 per cent, per annum,' for half-year ending 30th September. The valuation of the Borough of Timaru for 1879 amounts to L 45,500, being an increase of L 10,300 on last year. The Oamaru valnation this year amounts to only L 42,000, just L 166 more than last year. The WaDganui Borough valuation for the present year is L 57,874. .For last year it was L 38.852.
