The usual monthly meeting of the Tokomairiro Road Board was held in the Council Chambers, Milton, on Friday evening last Present: — Mr G-eo. Lindsay (chairman), and Messrs Dall, Watt, Murray, Tweedie, Allison, Wisely, Martin, and Twiss. REPORT. Mr Watt reported that he and Mr Tweedie had gone to the place appointed at last meeting to meet the members of the Mount Stuart subdivision, but they were not there. He had heard since that the Board had not received any notice. They saw what was necessary to be done, and recommended that a culvert with a two foot opening and 22 feet long, with about 20 chains of ditching, should be made, and he moved — " That the Clerk write to the Mount Stuart Road Board, stating that they would bear half cost of the works." The motion was seconded by Mr Mabtin, and carried. COBBEBPONDENCE. A letter was read from the Bruce County Council in reply to a letter from the Board, asking: for a subsidy for Loudon's Hill Road, also enclosing a copy of the report of the Comi mittee appointed by the Council to view the road, viz. — " That the Loudon's Gully Road is the best and only natural outlet for the coast settlers generally ;" also an extract from the minutes of the meeting of the Council, tiz.— " That the report be adopted ; and should the Tokomairiro Road Board agree to expend the money as indicated by the report their application would be taken into consideration by the Council." It was moved by Mr Murray, and seconded by Mr Dall, that the letter be received. — Carried. A requisition was received from Mr Hollick .and other settlers of the Akatore district, stating that having heard that the Middle Ridge, near Moses's and Hollick's properties, was going to be closed they asked the Board to take immediate steps to prevent it, as it was | the most suitable and best for traffic from the Big Bush. An instance was given that this road was the only one by which Mr George Wilson could take up his threihicg mill last year, and that the road could be made with a very little outlay. It was moved by Mr Mabtin, and seconded by Mr Murray, " That a Committee consisting of Messrs Allison, Tweedie, Twiss, Watt, the Chairman, and the mover, be appointed to view the particular road referred to in the requisition, and report at next meeting," — Carried. Mr Twiss thought the Board were out of order. The Loudon Gully road would have to be done ; it was the one most suitable for the coast traffic and should not be kid aside. The Hill road would also require doiag, and he was of opinion that the Board should spend the money granted by the Council on that road. Mr Dale was of opinion that.it was not necessary to take into consideration Loudon's Gully road. The Chairman said that the Council had taken up the question of the two roadß. He advised Mr Twiss to leave the matter until next meeting, and stated that Mr Blues has given notice of his intention to move that the boundary of the district be altered and rearranged. it was moved by Mr Twiss, and seconded by Mr Watt, " That the Committee meet on Monday next at 2 o'clock near Mr Salmond's property, and that the Clerk acquaint Mr Hollick.
