i This Council met on the 16th at, the School-, house, Caversham. Present — The Mayor, (in the chair), and all the Councillors. \ The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. A deputation from Maryhill, Caversham, .waited on the Council, aud asked that Lance■field street should be made' to its permanent level, as far as Mr Phillip's house. They'alsc 'pointed out the advantage that would accrue toi -the district if Lancefield street were, made, through to Mornington. ' The Inspector was authorised to inspect the street, and report. : * " COBEESPONDENCE. " ' !< A letter was read from a number oi the residents at Darley, calling attention to the bad state of Edwin, street. ' , " a It was resblred to call for tenders for the formation of the street. ' i . . .{ The Town Clerk of Dunedin wrote informing the Council chat the City Surveyor had, been instructed to have the Kensington ditches at? tended to. . ' , ;' * ' A letter was received from the Colonial Secretary's Office, asking for a return' of the cost of the assessment of the Borough. - ' r,r The Mayor pointed out. that, this .could not be done, as the Clerk had acted as Valuator, in conjunction with his other duties'. - , ' ' « :
