A year age the opening price of new wheat was $1.50® $1.60 per cental, and so continued until September, when priceß advanced to $1.65. In October, 1 rates attained $1.80 @ §1.85, then to $2 before the close of November. In Dec~mber, $2.25 was reached, and for some three months thereafter §2.25 @ §2.30 were ruling rates. In April, ' prices jumped up under the influence of Europeah war news, and purchases were freely •made at 03® §3,25 per cental. Flour also advanced in proportion. In May a great reaction in price took place, both in England and here, with, however, a light export trade — the advance checking all shipments to Great Britain.
