ANNUAL MEETINGS OF ROAD BOARDS.

MORTH-EAST VALLET.

The annual meeting of this Board was held in the North East Valley School House on Wednesday. The meeting was called for noon, but it was 1 o'clock before a quorum was obtained. Present : Messrs J. Green (chairman), Parsons, Crickmore, Miller, Watson, and Moyse. — The Clerk read the balance sneet, which showed the receipts and expenditure for the twelve months to have been LIB9G 0s Bd. The liabilities amounted to L3OOO. The balance sheet was adopted. — Mr J. Green was elected chairman for the fourth time. — Messrs Sinclair and Deans offered to form and make an approach to Mr Cottle's section on the Blueskin road, including culvert, for L 27 17s. The tender was accepted. Mr P. Grant's tender (L 10) for the formation ot a roadway 14ft wide at Rothesay was accepted. — Captain Baldwin wrote asking permission to alter a roadline leading towards Maybank. Mr Watson proposed, and Mr Crickmore seconded, that the required permission be granted. — Carried. A letter from Messrs Gillies, Street, and Hislop, re North and Scoullar's bonds, was read and ordered to be received. John Fergusson and Robert Miller wrote to the Board drawing attention to the position of the road line which at one time went through their property, sections 98, 101, 100, 103, and 105. When the road was closed, it was to have been conveyed to them, but they had never received the Crown grants. The letter was read and received. — The Road Inspector's report on various small jobs in the district was. read and adopted. — The following accounts were ordered to be paid :— T. Mathieson, L 4; Geo. Calder, L2O 8s; J. Rocbiord, L 35; Henry Kininmont, LB.

NORTH TAIERI KOAD BOARD.

The above Board held its annual meeting yesterday at Snow's Hotel, Mosgiel. Mr Gibson was iv the chair. — The annual report showed a total expenditure of LlOl4 l(k Id, and that there was Ll9l Is 8d to the Board's account at the Bank. — Mr Alexander Smith proposed and Mr Ssiellie seconded— '* That the present chairman (Air Gibson) should occupy the chair for the next twelve months." Carried.— The late Clerk was re-elected. — Mr Smellie proposed — "That the gentleman who acted as Secretary and Treasurer have a salary of L3O per annum, that being L 5 in excess of what he had last year." Carried.

EABT TAIERI HOAD ROARD. The annual meeting of the East Taieri Road Board was held at Riucarton yesterday, when all the members were present. — The annual report showed that the total expenditure dnriDg the year amounted to L 547 16*, leaving a balance of L 3718 Is.— The following officers were elected for the ensuing year: Messrs George Pram, Chairman ; Malcolm Cannichael, Treasurer; and A. Lees, Secretary. — Accounts amounting to L-10 15s 5J were passed for pay, menfc, — It v/as resolved that Lls be passed, to go tow«rd3 draining and filling up King street.

HALFWAY BUriH.

The annual meeting was held in thp Schoolhouse, Wakari, at 12.10 yesterday. Present : Messrs W. T. Bunting (Chairman), C. Hay, J. Jolly, and J. Biggar.— The minutes of the last meeting were read, but their confirmation was adjourned until next meeting. — The annual statement of accounts was presented and read by the Clerk, and ordered to bo printed in the Otago Daily Times on Saturday next. — Mr H. Driver was elected Chairman and Treasurer at the last monthly iceoting, vice Mr T. W. Kemnthorne resigned, and to whom a most cordial vote of thanks was passed. — All other business was postponed until the usual monthly meeting, te be held on Thursday, 23rd,
