BRYCE'S CHAMPION PLOUGH.
A .considerable amount of interest was manifested by ploughmen and others in the Tokomairiro district on the 3rd, on the occasion of the handiug over tlm plough, which haa been contested for at the Tokomairiro Farmers' Olub ploughing matches during the last ten years, to the final winucr, Mr D. Paton, Avho has succeeded in winniug it four ■times in all and twice in su'eeeasion. The plough,- which is a very handso;ne piece of workmanship, was made by ths donors, •Messrs, J., M.' and T. Bryce, o£ Milton.. Theirs were about 20 person's present, and tho V ice - President . of the Tokomairiro ,Farmera' CJub (MrJ. o.' Gordon) opened the proceedings by saying that he had much" pleasure in proposing success to the plough, as he considered that it- was such an implement as th.e ; district might justly be proud of, and he questioned if there was another plough in'*th& Colony which would surpass it for workmanship. Having been for nine 'years competed for, and not finally won, it had been an eye-sore, to all the ploughmen ; but acw.tbat it had been tip ally won, .-he had not the least' doubt but whnt it' ivould be again prominenLly brought under their notice on future occasions.
Mr J. M. Bkycb, in handing the plough over to Mr Paton, remarked that he was vcrv glad, although several attempts had been
