WALLACE COUNTY COUNCIL.
Rivebton, April 12th. The Wallace County Council has been sitting yesterday and today. A warm discussion arose concerning the tenders for the Otautau road, which have been opened by the Hon. Mr Nurse, one ef the members of- the Works Committee, at the office of the Council, in the presence of the Clerk. The proceeding was strongly commented on by Messrs Johnston and M'Xntosb, the other two members of the Committee, who wished them to be opened at Otautau. The matter was finally settled by the tenders being considered by the whole Council, and that of John Fora for £530 accepted. £260 was voted for the road Riverton to Wallacetown; £50, road Wiuton to Wrey's Bush ; £250, main road Riverton to Otautau. Notice of motion was given that the Chairman be paid a salary of £120 per annum, and that £500 be expended on the road Riverton to Orepuki.
