Business of most kinds is wakenin ' up- The rams are now putting the ground in good ply for the plough and consequently ploughmen are in mcrep-ed demand Station couples are moving, off, but in most cases employers prefer couples without children. It is a very unreasonabje demand. , The building and town trade in general, is fairly active. The iron business seems to hang fire more thtur auy other trade. Shopmen and clerks of . experience are in fair request. Shepherds are very slack, their busy season b^iusj past Wases :— Couples, £65 to £80 ; ploughmen, £52, £55, and £60; shepherds, £60; day labour at bush road and rail, 7s, as, and 9j ; cooks, boots, waiters, groom*! &c, 253 to 50s ; hotel girls, 12i, 15s, aud 20a • house ,do, from 10s to 12s and 15s ; carpenters, 10s, 12s and 15s ; dairy hands, 15s and 203 ; boys and girls, ss, 63. and 83; storemen and ordinary clerks, 36i to 60s
