Sydney, September 21st.

Arrived : Albion, from New Zealand ; and Durham, from London, after a passage of 50 days. Resolutions in favour of opening the Athenaeum were negatived. , September 23rd. The Wakatipu sailed this afternoon for New Zealand. The schooner Atlantic, found bottom up, was towed into Newcastle yesternight. Her cargo is timber. , While digging at Goulbourne yesterday a man found the remnins of two murderers who had been gibbeted in chains and buried 40 years ago. The highest flood ever known is reported from Tumat district. No lives were lost. A schooner, name unknown, has been wrecked in the same place as the Elmgrove. Six dead bodies were seen on the beach. September 27th. The Government intend to prosecute the constables who shot the Roman Catholic clergyman on the border. The schooner Atlantic, recently found bottom up, was righted yesterday.. The body of a man, and two hands and feet, were found in the cabin. Other bodies are supposed to be in the forecastle. ' 1 The body of a woman was seen last night floating' off Jervis Bay — supposed to be one of the passengers of the Dandenong. The Government do not intend to entertain Green's proposal for a line of steamers via the Cape. Mr Wiltshire, agent of the N6W Zealand Insurance Co. at Adelaide, has been appointed agent in Sydney of the Adelaide Marine Company.

Melbourne, September 25th. The captain and second officer of the Elmgrove were rescued, after enduring great privations. They report the , wreok of four other vessels at the same place.

Brisbane, September 21st. Elizabeth Lancefield, charged with poisoning her husband, wa3 acquitted.
