D., St. Bathans. — The latest news from the Hodgkinson is that, as an alluvial fleld it is an unmistakable failure. There is a large extent of auriferous ground, but ifc is very poor, and the country is parched up for want of rain during the greater part of the year. There will be a rich patch now and then, but there are apparently no runs or leads that will last any time. The Hodgkinson, however, is likely to become an important reefing district.
