MOTIVE FORCE OF LIGHT.

Mr Crookes has had to repeat his experiments on the motive force of radiant light before the Royal Society, and also at a meeting of the Physical Society. The importance of the discovery ia now generally acknowledged, and all disposition to adverse criticism has been, at least outwardly, repressed. The great authorities have not yet spoken out, but they are no doubt wisely trying out the experiment themselves with such variations a3 their experience may suggest. The announcement of the discovery will be a great feature at the meeting of the British Association, plenty of time having in the interim been allowed for arriving at an appreciative estimate of the value of the discovery, and of the modifications in other theories which its acceptance must involve. — Leader.
