BRIBERY AND CORRUPTION.
We have all heard of the bribery and corruption which prevails to an alarming extent in American cities — especially in New York and San Francisco. Great efforts have been made to effect a reform, and one means adopted by the latter city has been the formation of a Society for the Promotion of Political and Social Reform. By political reform they mean a change in the policy of allowing a small clique, by corruption or other means, to control the entire body politic, and by social reform they mean to signify eacb man's right to live in society and enjoy his share of the raw material which a wise God has supplied to all mankind, but which unjust laws on land and exchanges have deprived the many of and conferred upon the few. The object of the society is to disseminate as far as possible correct principles of government by means of public meetings, lectures, discussions, essays, tracts, &c.
